Hi Marie,
In your case you have a couple options. The easiest option is probably to install WordPress in the directory: spreadingjoycorp.com/blog and then use the built in tools to import your posts and comments from Blogspot. You would also probably want to customize a Wordpress Theme to match the current look of the site.

Your site could be done completely in WordPress using pages and blog entries. But, I don't think it's necessary to take on that kind of project at this point unless you find that you like the ease of use of WordPress over your current editor.

Does your hosting service offer automatic installation of WordPress?

I have my own domain name, but do not have a clue how to move it.

My blog is http://spreadingjoycorp.blogspot.com and I do have a "blog" button on my main page where I update about new posts being done, but I have no idea how to begin a move like this.

Any ideas?

Informative, and very true. Especially no.13, time is limitted once you're on track, and lots to be done. You could either find some experts to help you, or work it through your own, but both have their own disadvantages considering time/costs involved.

Also, if you're somebody who's into Google PR, better get your domain as earlier as possible. I spent 3 hectic months just to get it back to where it belongs after domain-changing.

The hard part was in the fact I kept putting it off. Procrastination is a bad bedfellow when it comes to building a business.

Hi Joe,
I'm glad you said the move was "seamless and painless". I thought it was easy too, but it's good to have a second opinion.

I represent this post perfectly! When I started Wildheart's Work's I was over on Blogspot.com too and like you once I started feeling the crunch of limited resources available to me through their platform I decided I wanted more and moved to Word Press. For me the migration was seamless and painless as all I had to do is let Word Press do the work for me in importing all of my posts and comments to Word Press from blogger.

I have been doing soo much better on my own as a result of running a self hosted blog.

One tip I would like to throw in here is to go for the mid ranged priced package that the hosting company you decide to go with provides to allow for growth. It is better to pay a little extra for that cushion. I took the baby croc package through HostGator and the 9.95 I pay every month is worth every cent.

Hi Roachking,
Free hosted blogs are a good way to write anonymously but they're not the only way. These days you can easily register a domain name privately so you get the ownership you deserve and the privacy you expect.

Great idea for a site. I hope you can stop looking over your shoulder soon!

Cheers!

Thanks for stopping by Hannah. Don't be afraid of moving over to your own domain and hosting. WordPress has built in tools to automatically move your posts and comments over from many popular blogging platforms. You shouldn't dread moving, you should dread procrastinating. Every day you wait is a day you are building value for someone else instead of yourself.

By the way, I like your blog. You should consider becoming a featured publisher on www.FoodBuzz.com. It's a great foodie community. Featured publishers get great exposure and can earn advertising revenue from them.

Good luck!
